Chinmaya Yuva Kendra, or CHYK, is the global youth wing of Chinmaya Mission. It aims to inspire and guide youngsters to discover their hidden potential and tap into its infinite source at will.

Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda formed CHYK with the vision of helping youth realize their latent and infinite inner potential. Pujya Gurudev encouraged them to test the logic and practicality of Vedantic scriptural teachings through applications in daily life. This emphasis on knowledge through application, which Pujya Gurudev referred to as ‘Spirituality in Action’ or ‘Dynamic Spirituality’ has transformed millions of youth and is a tradition which continues to be followed at CHYK to date.

Study Classes CHYK study classes are interactive reading and discussion sessions where participants study Vedantic texts based on the syllabus developed by Swami Chinmayananda and supplemented by Swami Tejomayananda. Trained moderators and class coordinators guide students to reflect deeply, examine critically, and debate positively based on their comprehension and personal experiences. It also allows students to put across challenges faced by them in their life and find answers to them through these discussions.

Camps/Workshops/Picnics From residential retreats, to one-day workshops, seminars, symposia, debates, picnics, and competitions, CHYKs around the world have continued to think outside the box and organize unique, creative events with catchy themes and relevant topics that gives them a deeper understanding of themselves and the world at many levels.

Chykture & Sports Once a month on Sunday classes CHYKs organize a movie screening based on spiritual grounds and conduct an interactive session after the same. Any one Sunday of a month is also reserved specifically towards playing outdoor sports like football / cricket.

Social Service Projects Dynamic spirituality is best exemplified through the various social service projects CHYKs have served and fundraised for over the years. A huge number of CHYKs regularly undertake teaching value-based living to children and teenagers in slums and conducting blood drives for various blood banks.

CMTT – 3rd Residential Vedanta Course

Hari Om!

Chinmaya Mission Trinidad and Tobago is delighted to announce that the upcoming 3rd Residential Vedanta Course in English at Chinmaya Ashram, Couva will be inaugurated on 2nd October, 2025, on the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. This is a two (2) year intensive course which focuses on the study of the Upanishads, Gita and other Vedantic texts complemented by regular spiritual practices.

The Resident Acharya for the Course will be Swami Prakashananda ji.

Eligibility: Applications will be accepted only from the Caribbean and Latin America applicants. Unmarried, unengaged and uncommitted men and women, 30 and under, with a sincere interest in the study of Vedanta are invited to apply.

Duration: The two year residential course will commence on Gandhi Jayanti, 2nd October, 2025.

Cost: Accommodation, food, clothes, books and medical care will be provided free of cost to students.

Recognizing the need for change and entertainment, the Hindu religion provides special occasions, festivals of a religious nature, called utsavs. No religion will last very long if it does not understand the common needs and desires of people, insisting only on strict discipline at all times, Other than fasting there must also be feasting, singing, dancing, and joyous celebrations.

Our religious festivals have a very different effect. They not only give us occasions for merrymaking, but they also give us a noble, divine vision and inspire us to raise our minds to the heights of that great goal. Rather than merely exhausting us physically and mentally, they purify the mind and prepare us to face life with more enthusiasm, to live life more happily and fully. If we observe these festivals closely, we will see that they not only point out the ultimate goal of life, but also give us guidelines to reach that goal. In short, our religious festivals serve the purpose of all other entertainment and at the same time give us much more.

Taking this spirit behind our Hindu festivals forward, the Chinmaya Mission trinidad family celebrates festivals with great joy and enthusiasm. All members of the family come together and enjoy the celebrations with various Pujas, Chantings, musical and cultural programs. Chinmaya Mission Trinidad and Tobago (CMTT) was inaugurated on October 2, 1997. In 1999, the Mission acquired more than 2.5 acres of land at Calcutta Road # 1 Mc Bean Village, Couva. CMTT’s membership began with only three persons and stands today at over 10,000, across Trinidad and Tobago.

The heart of the Mission is its Couva Ashram, administered under the able guidance of resident Acharya, Swami Prakashanandaji. Acharyas serve year round conducting
various classes, satsangs and discourses across the Island.

CMTT sponsors an active, year-round program of courses and discourses on sacred texts, and devotional and meditation practices that are aimed at making the teachings of Vedanta accessible to individuals of any background. Spiritual, cultural, and social service activities are also offered.

CMTT’s ashram facilities include a temple and lecture hall, Two High Schools, Seven pre-schools and Four Primary schools, the first Chinmaya Mission Vidyalaya (CVTT) outside of India, and Three residential hostels to accommodate students and guests.

CMTT’s youth wing CHYK (Chinmaya Yuva Kendra) is actively involved in all Mission activities. CHYKs organize and participate in study classes, charitable and social events, spiritual camps, jnana yajnas, and cultural programs

Founded by the Chinmaya Mission of Trinidad and Tobago, CHINMAYA VIDYALAYA (CV) is committed to providing students with a purposeful, transformative and rich educational learning experience through its broad network of early childhood, primary and secondary schools. Established in 2003 with a signature campus in Couva, today, seven campuses are serving students’ educational needs in communities in Trinidad.

In less than sixteen years, Chinmaya Vidyalaya (CV) has established a track record in academic excellence. Firmly rooted in a value-based education system and integrating elements of the mainstream curriculum, blended with ancient spirituality, culture and leadership modules, Chinmaya Vidyalaya is advancing high academic achievement and fostering diverse learning opportunities. Chinmaya Vidyalaya has successfully grown and scaled its model of education and presently impacts a total of 780 early childhood, primary and secondary students and their families in Trinidad and Tobago.

Chinmaya Vidyalaya is launching one of its biggest educational milestones
– the construction of a state-of-the-art 12-acre, 30,000 square-foot school campus in Trinidad – ‘The Chinmaya Vidyalaya Sant Tulsidas Campus’.

Construction has begun and will be completed over two phases. Phase 1 will have the capacity to accommodate 800 full-time secondary school students. Powered by a state-of-the-art modern campus, students will have access to grow and learn academically
in innovative spaces equipped with smart technology while enhancing their cultural development, spiritual well-being, real-world experience and leadership capabilities with integrated cultural programming and industry-led training.

The Chinmaya Vidyalaya Sant Tulsidas Campus is poised to not only be green but to also serve as an environmental sustainability model in the use of green technologies and as a learning module for the broader community.

Greening Initiatives: CV’s curriculum is being modified to integrate and reflect greening initiatives with a goal of developing student-led green projects and environmental awareness around preservation, and other climate action and sustainability initiatives.

Harvesting Rainwater: With the proposed implementation of a catchment pond and a planned rainwater harvesting system at the new CV Sant Tulsidas Campus, students will participate in demonstration projects on water treatment, irrigation projects and ‘water reuses’ for a healthy planet.

Powered by over 30,000 square feet of multi-level learning spaces, the new Couva campus will be equipped with a wide range of facilities, smart technology and resources dedicated to the effective dissemination of a blended academic and spiritual curriculum.

Phase I of this state-of-the-art campus is scheduled to open in September 2020. The facilities on this expanded campus are designed to accommodate 800 students from Grade 6 – 12. This doubles the capacity of our current infrastructure and will accommodate the current waiting list of 100+ students. The Campus will showcase several distinguishing features aligned with advancing education into the 21st century. The classroom will be equipped with smart technology, audiovisual spaces, an ICT hub, Library, Science labs, Music and Arts spaces, as well as physical and mental well-being spaces to grow – gymnasium and yoga/meditation rooms.

Phase II of the project will integrate a range of additional innovative spaces, tools, and equipment designed to facilitate industry-led vocational skill-building in entrepreneurship, digital literacy, welding, woodworking, carpentry, as well as skill-building initiatives on environmental and climate action to create greater awareness amongst youth on preserving the environment.

With a total projected cost of USD $5.3 million (construction, furnishings, technology and equipment), we are seeking dedicated sponsors and lifelong supporters such as yourself, to help shape and transform the educational playing field to better educate and nurture today’s youth to effectively take on tomorrow’s leadership roles as your employees, your caregivers, your political and health care leaders. Given the recurring failure of the public education system in Trinidad and Tobago, we are now at a critical juncture where we must prioritize and support alternative solutions that are effectively leading and transforming the educational development of our promising future leaders. Chinmaya Vidyalaya has
been at the forefront in re-imagining, transforming, and trailblazing a legacy of educational successes. It is, therefore, our collective social responsibility in the private and civic sector to actively throw our full support behind a proven and tested model in innovative education that is guaranteeing effective outcomes for the future prosperity of our society.

To achieve this goal of preparing more young leaders, we are faced with the challenge of raising the required funds for both construction and furnishings. To date, a group of sponsors (donors) has committed to an early round of USD $1million toward the start of the construction of the building foundation. Now we are seeking your sponsorship to take the project to the next phase of construction. To complete the construction phase we require USD $3 million and an additional USD $1.3 million for furnishings, equipment, technology for classrooms, donor wall and the scholarship fund.

Our schools are geographically located and accessible to students in multiple communities across the island – Couva, Gasparillo, Debe, Felicity, Esmeralda, Cunupia and Barrackpore. In addition, at Chinmaya Mission Vidyalaya, students are not mandated to participate in the Secondary Entrance Examination (S.E.A.) the result of which is zero stress on 11 and 12 year old children to pass this exam.

Chinmaya Mission Vidyalaya employs a unique teaching methodology by complementing secular knowledge with cultural values. Our curriculum is fully compliant with the requirements set forth by the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Education. We have adapted the Ministry’s High School curriculum and implemented it with the rigor crucial to drive exceptional success. At Chinmaya Mission Vidyalaya, our focus is on the continued implementation of an education approach that guarantees the highest rate of student academic and personal development success. In contrast, within the public education and ‘prestige schools’ high emphasis is placed on pushing students to take on mandatory ‘extra lessons’ to achieve academic success at astronomical costs to parents. At Chinmaya Mission Vidyalaya, this practice of ‘extra lessons’ is non-existent. Code of Conduct, Punctuality and Discipline

At Chinmaya Vidyalaya classroom conduct, punctuality and discipline play an integral part in daily school life and an important factor in achieving personal and academic success. Our code of discipline and conduct is regularly updated and shared with parents, administrators, teachers and students. At Chinmaya Mission Vidyalaya, heavy emphasis is focused on delivering world class education to our youth, before profits. At the same time, Chinmaya Mission Vidyalaya has built its sustainability and financial resilience, independent of government funding or investment. All funds received for classroom enhancement, facilities maintenance, or programming design and implementation are re-invested to advance students education. Accountability, transparency and foresight are undertaken by our Education Board of Directors, none of whom receive personal benefits or compensation.

NEW CHINMAYA MISSION VIDYALAYA BUILDING

The Chinmaya Mission and Chinmaya Vidyalaya have embarked on a new project for the benefit of the children of our nation. We have resolved to establish a modern day, state of the art educational facility at the Couva location. This legacy we intend to leave for the future generations.

This facility will house the Primary and High schools along with Science Laboratories, Library, Language rooms, Amphitheatre etc. Our commitment to students is the Advanced level programme in several disciplines which will commence after the completion of the first phase of the project.

The construction of The Chinmaya Vidyalaya Sant Tulsidas Campus commenced in March 2019 with the sod turning ceremony for the three –phase project.

Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK), the youth wing of Chinmaya Mission was initiated by Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda for young people from 18 to 28 years of age. He stressed on dynamic spirituality and gave CHYK an apt motto to sum up the direction of this wing:

Harnessing youth potential through dynamic spirituality.

The Yuva Kendra aims to bring to the fore the potential and latent talent in the youth, because sometimes they are not aware of what lies within them. It works to develop the important qualities of teamwork and right thinking. The youth evolve when they learn how to think is more significant then what to think.

What is pertinent is that youth have a higher goal. Success and joy follow, which rubs off on the family, the society and the nation.

Swami PrakashanandaJi’s Itinerary 2024

Swami Prakashananda was born in California, Trinidad, in January 1964. He attended the Couva Private Grammar School in the late 1970’s. Upon completion of his secondary education, Swamiji migrated to Canada to pursue tertiary education at York University where he successfully read for a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy at Toronto’s York University.

As a young seeker, he had his first encounter with this realized master Pujya Gurudev, Swami Chinmayananda – the founder of the Chinmaya Mission. This meeting awakened a deep-seated spiritual yearning in Swamiji and he eagerly sought permission from Pujya Gurudev to embark on this most noble journey.

In 1991, Swamiji traveled to India to study Samskrit and Vedanta at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya. Mumbai. Upon completion of his studies in 1994, he was assigned to give discourses at various Mission centers across India and Nepal. Swamiji spent six years in India.

Swamiji also pursued his law degree at Benares Hindu University after which he returned to Trinidad as Brahmachaari Prem Chaitanya. In 1997 Our revered Swamiji initiated Chinmaya Mission activities in our twin island republic. Thereafter began the longstanding tradition of his satsangs, yajnas and camps across Trinidad, the Caribbean, the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Through his great dynamism, selfless disposition, humility, charisma, astute leadership style, unique presentation style, and his commitment and dedication to serving the noble Sanatana Dharma tradition, he established and continues to spearhead the Chinmaya Mission Trinidad and Tobago.

The Chinmaya Mission Ashram was the brainchild of our revered Swamiji. A piece of almost barren sugarcane land was transformed into the now highly productive, dynamic Chinmaya Ashram, officially established 2nd of October, 1997. Over the past 16 years, the Ashram has mushroomed into a unique beacon of learning both in the academic and spiritual realms. It continues to add its richness to the diversity of our plural society.

Pujya Guruji, Swami Tejomayananda initiated Br. Prem into sannyasa as Swami Prakashananda on Mahashivaratri, in 2005.

Among the countless positive endeavors of the Ashram, Swamiji has personally conducted hundreds of yajnas, spiritual camps, courses in Sanskrit and Vedic Chanting, and established study groups for children and adults. In addition, there are numerous charitable projects assisting needy communities and families, and several religious symposiums. If this wasn’t enough, the Ashram also runs schools under the name Chinmaya Vidyalaya , with centers in Mc Bean, Debe, Gasparillo, Barrackpore, Penal Cunupia and Felicity, all of which continue to add value to, and positively impact the lives of thousands of our children and citizens, contributing to their spiritual, personal and intellectual development.

In recognition for the selfless community service rendered by our Pujya Swami Prakashananda, the government of Trinidad and Tobago awarded him with the Chaconia Gold Medal in 2012.

Swamiji has conducted three residential Vedanta & Sanskrit programme at the ashram and completed the third in 2018. This translates into him making a tremendous sacrifice to impart the ancient wisdom of the Rishis to the Brahmacharis and Brahmacharinis who have availed themselves to this life transforming experience.

Brahmacharini Kritika Chaitanya

Brahmacharini Kritika Chaitanya was born in Toronto, Canada. After studying International Development Studies and Philosophy at the University of Toronto and engaging in much social work and volunteerism, she joined the 2nd Residential Vedanta Course at Chinmaya Mission Trinidad and Tobago Ashram in 2013. After a year and a half of studying the highest knowledge and Sanskrit under the guidance of His Holiness Swami Prakashanandaji, she has committed herself to serving Chinmaya Mission. She is currently posted in Trinidad, conducting public satsangs and classes for adults, seniors and young females, and assisting with Ashram activities and enterprises.

Brahmachari Hamerajh

Brahmachari Hamerajh was born in Trinidad and Tobago. He completed his Spiritual training in Sandeepany Sadhanalaya, Mumbai under Chinmaya Mission. He now is the Senior Brahmachari of Chinmaya Mission Trinidad & Tobago, under the guidance of Pujya Swami Prakashananda. His profound humility, deep wisdom and sincere love for the Scriptures and the Saints are visible in his work throughout the country. Brahmachari Hamerajhji conducts Satsangs, Spiritual classes, and assists in a wide range of Mission activities.

Pricing
The price of the products is deemed to be the price of the latest batch of product in stock. CCMT, however, has the right to display or change the product at a price other than the quoted price. CCMT carries out all transactions in good faith. In case there is a discrepancy in the quoted price (taking into consideration fuel surcharge, service tax, packing and courier charges) and the realised price once finalising your order, it is the responsibility of the customer to inform CCMT. CCMT is not obliged to fully or partly honour the claims made by the customer once he has carried out the transaction on the website. Discrepancies will be settled on a case by case basis.
1. Books: – Total Amount (displayed) = Product list price + service tax + packing charges + courier charges + fuel surcharge (on courier charges)
2. CDs, DVDs and other products:- Total Amount (displayed)= Product list price + service tax + packing charges + courier charges + fuel surcharge (on courier charges)
Delivery
All attempts will be made to deliver your purchase to the nominated shipping address. However, from time to time, CCMT may require a different address. You should ensure that the shipping address in your account is current. Once your order is fully processed, purchased products are packed with utmost care for delivery.
Mode of delivery:
Orders from within Mumbai
1. Mode: All the orders from within Mumbai are sent through local carrier.
2. Delivery: It usually takes approximately 2 working days to reach its destination within Mumbai.
Orders from outside Mumbai (within India)
3. Mode: All such orders are sent through Courier by Road / Air through our designated carriers.
4. Delivery: It usually takes approximately 4-5 working days for courier to reach its destination within India. Where there is no courier service available, the books would be sent through registered post, not through Express Post).
Registered Air Mail (SAARC Countries Other than India)
5. Delivery: It usually takes approximately 10-12 working days to reach its destination through Registered Air Mail.

CCMT is not responsible for any delay that occurs in delivery by the courier agency or any other agency contracted for this purpose. The products are delivered directly to you in a non-commercial manner.
The order size limit has been framed so that no custom clearance requirement is incurred in any of the SAARC countries. However, CCMT does not guarantee nor indemnify you for any penalties imposed on account of custom clearance required in the delivered country based on the laws of the land in force at that time.
CCMT is also not responsible for any delay in delivering the product in case it is held up by custom authorities on account of required legal clearances and penalties. The penalties so arising shall be borne by you in whose name and address the product has been delivered to.
In case of multi-volume sets, overweight books and similar, the charges incurred may be extra, in which case we will communicate with you prior to despatch.

RETURN AND REFUND POLICY
Products upon purchase cannot be returned to CCMT unless:
i) The product delivered is different from the one ordered online and no replacement of the ordered product is possible;
ii) The product delivered is accepted by CCMT as having a manufacturing, printing or recording defect;
iii) The product satisfying either of the above conditions is returned in a good and acceptable condition by you.
